Frequently asked questions
Unlike large multi-car carriers that wait until a truck is fully loaded before departing, BIGS Unlimited operates a dedicated one-vehicle-per-trip service. Your vehicle does not sit in a yard waiting for space to fill, and it is not repeatedly loaded and unloaded along the way.
With direct transport, we are able to:
• Provide more predictable pickup and delivery windows
• Reduce handling and movement between depots
• Offer faster delivery timeframes on many routes
• Give personalised communication throughout the journey
Our specialised trailer setup is also suited to lowered, modified and performance vehicles, with low-angle loading designed to reduce scraping risk during loading and unloading.
For customers who value speed, careful handling and direct transport without unnecessary delays, BIGS Unlimited offers a focused alternative to large-scale vehicle carriers.
We operate on a one‑vehicle‑per‑trip model, so your car isn’t left waiting for a large truck to fill before it moves. This lets us keep to confirmed pickup times and clear delivery windows. When our schedule allows, we can even offer same‑day pickup and delivery within the same island. Get in touch with us to check current availability for a same‑day run.
Yes. Your vehicle is covered by transit insurance while it is in our care. Coverage is subject to policy limits, terms and exclusions. The relevant coverage details and limits will be clearly explained when your booking is confirmed so you know exactly what protection applies during transport.
For additional peace of mind, we strongly recommend that customers ensure their own comprehensive vehicle insurance policy is active prior to transit.
Maintaining your own insurance provides an extra layer of protection for your asset during the transport process.
Delivery time depends on the route, our booking schedule and (for inter‑island moves) ferry timings. As a guide, South Island routes are often 1–2 days, North Island 3–5 days, and inter‑island 4–6 days on average.
In most cases we recommend you do not, as personal items may not be covered by insurance and can move around during transit. If you need to leave items in the vehicle, let us know in advance so we can confirm what’s acceptable.
We transport most cars, boats, vans and light vehicles up to 3,000 kg GVM. This includes daily drivers, classics, luxury vehicles, project cars and modified vehicles. If your vehicle has low ground clearance, non-standard dimensions or special loading requirements, simply send us photos or details and we will confirm suitability for transport before booking.
Yes. Wherever access is safe and legal, we provide true door‑to‑door pickup and delivery. If your address isn’t suitable for the truck, we’ll arrange a nearby meeting point that works for you.
You can request a quote online or contact us directly with your pickup and delivery details. We’ll confirm price, estimated timeframes and availability, then lock in your booking with agreed pickup and delivery windows.
Yes. For every job, we share a live tracking link so you can see where your vehicle is in real time and receive updates without needing to chase us.
If an unexpected delay occurs due to weather conditions, road closures, ferry disruptions or mechanical issues, we will contact you as soon as possible with clear updates and a revised delivery estimate. Our priority is always the safety of your vehicle.
We recommend removing valuables, securing any loose parts or accessories, and ensuring the vehicle can be safely driven on and off the transporter. Let us know in advance if it’s non‑running or has special requirements (very low, wide, or modified).
Vehicle transport pricing depends on your pickup and delivery locations, type of vehicle, and whether any special handling is required. Longer distances, ferry costs, and low-clearance vehicles can affect the rate. We provide transparent pricing upfront and the quote you receive is the price you pay.
